EDITORIAL: No logic in US pressure on Israel to release terrorists

The American demand that Israel release Hamas terrorists from Rafah defies all logic.

If the stated goal is to dismantle Hamas, then why push for the release of the very terrorists that make up its ranks? Such pressure undermines Israel’s war effort and strengthens the message that terrorism pays off.

Israel cannot afford to repeat the mistakes of the past, when international pressure forced premature ceasefires and left Hamas standing—only to regroup and attack again. This time, Israel must stand firm, even if it comes at diplomatic cost.
