The military cooperation between Turkey and Egypt is tightening, with high-level coordination meetings taking place at an unprecedented pace.
On Thursday, the first high-level military dialogue meeting between the two countries was held in Ankara. Turkish Chief of Staff Metin Gürak welcomed his Egyptian counterpart, General Ahmed Fathi Ibrahim Khalifa, with a military ceremony, followed by a closed-door meeting.
This was the inaugural session of what is planned to become an annual dialogue between the countries' military leaderships.
According to Turkish sources, the discussions focused on enhancing bilateral military cooperation, including joint training and defense industries. Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler also hosted the Egyptian delegation, as reported by the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat.
