Chicago-based Islamic scholar and activist Khalid Nijmeh said that Donald Trump only wants Muslims in the United States who are willing to abandon their faith, during a December 26, 2025 lecture at the Islamic Oasis Winter Conference in Chicago.
Speaking at the event, hosted by Islamic Oasis, Nijmeh claimed that President Trump seeks “one certain type of Islam – the ones who bow down and give up their religion.”
Nijmeh went on to describe Islam as an unstoppable force, comparing it to a machine that “grinds every other idea in the world.” He said that as long as what he called “the wheel of Islam” keeps turning, all competing ideologies will eventually be crushed. According to Nijmeh, Islam’s ultimate victory is inevitable, regardless of resistance in the United States or elsewhere.
