Kuwaiti authorities announced they have thwarted a major terror plot targeting state leaders and senior officials, dismantling a network planning assassination operations and actions aimed at undermining national security.
According to the Interior Ministry, six suspects were arrested after extensive surveillance, including five Kuwaiti citizens and one individual whose citizenship had been revoked. Authorities also identified 14 additional suspects abroad, including Iranian and Lebanese nationals, as well as stateless individuals.
Investigations revealed direct links to Hezbollah, with suspects admitting to coordination with the group, recruitment efforts, and readiness to carry out attacks. The cell reportedly received advanced military training abroad, including explosives use and assassination techniques.
Kuwaiti security services also uncovered additional Hezbollah-linked cells earlier in March, including plans targeting vital infrastructure, highlighting an ongoing and organized threat network operating inside and outside the country.
