Officials confirm the Brown University gunman, Claudio Neves-Valente, also killed MIT professor Nuno Loureiro
Authorities on Thursday identified the suspect in a deadly shooting at Brown University as Claudio Manuel Neves-Valente, a 48-year-old student at the Ivy League school and a Portuguese national whose last known address was in Miami, Florida.
Providence Police Chief Col. Oscar Perez announced during a news conference that Neves-Valente was found dead earlier that evening in a storage facility in Salem, New Hampshire, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The shooting occurred Dec. 13 during a finals review session in an economics classroom, killing two students and injuring nine others. The victims who died were identified in media reports as Ella Cook, a 19-year-old sophomore, and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, an 18-year-old freshman.
