The Houthis in Yemen have decided to join the campaign alongside Iran, and this morning the IDF spokesperson confirmed that they launched a missile toward Be’er Sheva, which was intercepted by Israel’s air defense systems.
The move, which comes about a month after the outbreak of the war, raises questions about the timing and the strategy behind it.
The Houthis’ military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, confirmed this morning: “We carried out our first military operation using a barrage of ballistic missiles against sensitive military targets of the Israeli enemy in southern occupied Palestine.”
Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a member of the Houthis’ political bureau, already told Yemeni media on March 13 that there is full coordination among the “Axis of Resistance” countries, including Yemen. According to him, the decision to join the fighting alongside Iran had already been made, and Yemen’s participation was only a matter of time.
