Israeli Middle East expert Dr. Eddie Cohen says Saudi Arabia is working to revive the Sunni “Islamic NATO” alliance at a time when Iran is facing growing internal and regional pressure.
Speaking at midnight on the News Arena program, Cohen argued that Riyadh is playing a double game — publicly navigating diplomacy while strategically attempting to sideline Tehran and position itself as the dominant power in the Sunni Arab world.
According to him, the Saudis see Iran’s current weakness as an opportunity to reshape the regional balance of power in their favor.
Cohen added that if the Iranian regime were to fall, the main regional loser would not necessarily be Tehran alone — but Qatar, which has long maintained close ties with Iran and various Islamist movements across the region.
