A cargo vessel suspected of transporting Iranian weapons to Russia reportedly sank in the Caspian Sea while sailing toward Russian territory, according to regional and intelligence-linked reports.
The ship is believed to be part of a regular maritime supply route used by Iran to deliver weapons and military equipment to Russia.
Over the past year alone, the vessel reportedly docked more than 20 times at the Russian ports of Makhachkala and Astrakhan, both key hubs for logistics along the Caspian corridor. While the exact cause of the sinking remains unclear, the incident is raising serious questions about the security and reliability of Iran’s weapons transfer network to Moscow.
