Having learned a hard lesson in Gaza on 10/7, Israeli forces penetrated the Quneitra area on Saturday, accompanied by tanks, bulldozers and trench digging equipment.
A reporter for the Syrian news network "Enab Baladi" in southern Syria stated that the Israeli army penetrated the border strip to a depth of up to 200 meters inside Syrian territory and began, with the help of a bulldozer, to level agricultural lands, dig ditches and build dirt surfaces as part of the "Sofa 53" road project.
The reporter added that Israel brought bulldozers and heavy equipment accompanied by a chariot tank and a covering force and work forces, consisting of several soldiers, and workers digging trenches, and that the equipment entered repeatedly and worked from morning to evening before returning to Israeli territory.
The reporter noted that Israeli equipment is currently operating west of the village of Jobta al-Khasab and under one of the Israeli observation posts in the Shahar area, where four machines are working together to dig trenches.
Every kilometer or so, the work team sets up an observation point fortified with mounds of dirt about five meters high.
Israel does not officially refer to this type of movement in Syria, and the official media in Syria does not announce the entry of Israeli units into its territory.
NEWSRAEL: Establishing clear buffer zones, like the one between North and South Korea is one of the most basic precepts of military thinking. Israel has, for obvious reasons (international pressure), abandoned this important defense principals which failed horribly in Gaza on 10/7. Without talking about this in the media at all, it seems as though Israel has learned its lesson and are taking steps to repair this.
