Over the past 24 hours, the EU has been announcing easing of sanctions on Russia and Syria and the question of whether it is a policy change or a constraint in light of existing conditions.
In a more significant move, the union eliminates the freezing of some of the assets of leading Russian banks with the aim of "opening bottlenecks in world trade in food and fertilizers." This move comes in the wake of criticism from African leaders of the negative impact of sanctions on trade.
At the same time, the European Union has decided to remove the Syrian airline Sham Wings from the blacklist. The privately defined Syrian company is linked to the Assad regime and was added to the blacklist after the EU claimed that the flight was migrating to Belarus from where they were trying to cross the border into EU countries. The Syrian company has stopped flights to Belarus.
It should be noted that "Sham Wings" is still on the black list of the US administration, claiming that it has assisted in the transfer of fighters and weapons in favor of the Assad regime since the uprising against it began in 2011.
