Turkey’s president reaffirmed that Ankara sees its presence and ties with northern Cyprus as permanent and non-negotiable.
At a meeting of the Presidential High Advisory Council chaired by President Erdogan, special emphasis was placed on the Cyprus issue.
According to a statement by presidential spokesperson Burhanettin Duran, Turkey reiterated that its relationship with Northern Cyprus is “unbreakable” and stressed that Ankara will continue to support Turkish Cypriots in key sectors including energy, water, healthcare, and security.
Erdogan’s remarks underscore Turkey’s long-standing position rejecting any withdrawal from the northern part of the island and opposing international pressure to alter the status quo. Ankara views its role in northern Cyprus as both a strategic necessity and a responsibility toward the Turkish Cypriot population, despite ongoing objections from Greece, the Greek Cypriot administration, and much of the international community.
