Naim Qassem, leader of Hezbollah, issued a harsh statement rejecting any outcome from Lebanon’s negotiations with Israel, declaring the group is not bound by any agreements reached in Washington.
In remarks broadcast on Hezbollah’s Al-Manar network, Qassem attacked the Lebanese government, accusing it of betraying national interests and “committing a grave sin” by engaging in direct talks with Israel.
He demanded an immediate halt to negotiations, insisting only indirect talks should be considered, while also calling for the reversal of government decisions targeting Hezbollah and its operatives.
Qassem outlined five conditions for any future resolution: a complete halt to Israeli military activity on land, sea, and air; Israeli withdrawal from disputed territories; release of prisoners; return of displaced residents; and reconstruction of Lebanon. He framed Hezbollah’s weapons as “defensive,” claiming they are necessary to counter what he described as Israeli aggression.
