Negotiations on Nuclear Deal: Iran Makes Threats
The Nziv Report 09.05.2021
A senior Iranian official threatened on Saturday to shut down cameras located at Iran's nuclear facilities if negotiations on the nuclear deal fail.
In a statement issued by the Iranian Tasman News Agency, the head of the National Security Committee of the Iranian parliament, Mujatabah du Al-Nur, said that the West has until May 24 to fulfill its obligations under the nuclear deal.
He added that in case the negotiations fail, Tehran has the option not to decisively implement the additional protocol.
He said the International Atomic Energy Agency's cameras are currently operating "in the nuclear centers without being connected to the Internet, so that if the negotiations bear fruit by May 24, the agency will be able to access the contents of those cameras."
He added, if the negotiations do not bear fruit by that date, the camera content will be removed.
In a recent interview, the director-general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, expressed concern that Iran would destroy the videos if the powers' negotiations did not end in time.
