Morocco returned the country's ambassador to Tunisia for consultation, this after the Tunisian president, Case Said, hosted the leader of the Polisario Front, the separatist organization that demands independence in the Western Sahara region.
In a statement on behalf of the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that the hospitality expresses "hostile behavior and a dangerous and unprecedented act that deeply hurts the feelings of the Moroccan people."
At the same time, Tunisia also returned its ambassador to Morocco for consultation, and in a statement on behalf of the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs it was written that Tunisia "is surprised by the hostile and unacceptable Moroccan statement towards Tunisia which maintains neutrality with regard to the Western Sahara and in accordance with international decisions".
