Gilat Satellite Networks said that its Gilat DataPath division won a contract worth roughly $10 million to supply a customized Earth observation system, extending the company’s push into intelligence and geospatial technologies beyond its traditional satellite communications business.

The package is scheduled for delivery over the next year.

Company officials said the new system is built around satellites carrying diverse sensing capabilities that can feed real-time intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and situational awareness missions.
