Unlike his predecessor, Khomeini, who only spoke of Israel as "the little devil", Khamenei, who has ruled Iran since the late 1980s, is the one who built the global terrorist monster, mainly with the aim of suffocating Israel. This is the vision of his life, which by all accounts is nearing its end.
It is logical to assume that Khamenei, who is a very sophisticated person, takes his age into account in his calculations, and therefore towards the last chapter of his life he decided to enter into the frontal and direct confrontation with Israel that he had been planning and preparing for so many years.
For him, it is in the most favorable position geostrategically to do so.
War with Israel. The USA is weak. The nuke is within reach. As an extreme religious person, and at the same time very practical, this is his opportunity.
