On Sunday evening, Syria's official news channel reported—citing a security source—that armed Druze militias attacked internal security forces in Suwayda, killing an officer and injuring others.
The source claimed the attackers violated a ceasefire reached last month in the Druze-majority province after clashes that left hundreds dead.
According to the source, “lawless groups” targeted security forces and shelled villages in the rural parts of the province.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) confirmed violent clashes between local factions and fighters traveling in General Security vehicles near Tal Hadid in western Suwayda. A Druze fighter from a local faction was killed, but his group ultimately seized the strategic hilltop. Injured security personnel were evacuated to a hospital in Daraa.
