Iran’s intelligence minister has revealed that there was an attempt to assassinate Ali Khamenei, saying hostile elements—whom he labeled agents of the US and Israel—tried to target the supreme leader both through direct assassination attempts and internal hostile activity.
His remarks come as Khamenei has not spoken publicly for nearly three weeks and has significantly reduced appearances since Israel’s 12-day June war, during which Jerusalem struck senior IRGC commanders and nuclear scientists, forcing Khamenei into hiding.
The minister gave no details about the alleged plot but warned that anyone aiding such efforts—consciously or not—serves the agenda of “America and the Zionist regime”. Reports during the June fighting indicated that President Donald Trump personally intervened to prevent a strike on Khamenei, later writing online that he “saved Khamenei from an ugly death.” Tehran has not commented on those claims.
