In a video filmed in February 2025 by a Lebanese resident from the Beaufort Castle, the strategic significance of the ridge can be clearly seen. From the high point, one can observe towards Israeli territory, including identifying Metula and the Hermon area.
The video is not just a landscape documentation. The Lebanese person filmed proudly displays Hezbollah's control over the area and its observation capability towards Israel.
This is especially notable against the backdrop of the fact that during Operation Northern Arrow, IDF forces reached the foothills of the Beaufort ridge but did not take control of it. From his perspective, the fact that Hezbollah continued to hold the ridge after the operation served as proof of the organization's resilience and the preservation of one of its most important strategic assets in southern Lebanon.
Precisely because of this, the current IDF takeover of Beaufort (May 31, 2026) gains broader significance.
