Israeli fighter jets launched airstrikes on positions of the Assad regime and Iranian militias in the area of the border town of Albuqmal in the eastern rural area of Deir a-Zor district, the Syrian news agency Zeitun reported.
The agency correspondent confirmed that an aircraft attacked weapons storage sites near the Syrian-Iraqi border on the side of the city of al-Bukmal, east of Deir a-Zour, on the side of the al-Qaim border crossing.
He noted that a military training center belonging to the Iranian militia, the Kamar bin Hisham Brigade, was also attacked - under the command of Haj Hussein Ayub, an Iraqi citizen, near the Hatla Antiquities Junction.
The reporter reported that 16 bodies killed in this attack are in hospitals in al-Bukmal, in addition to dozens of wounded who were also brought for treatment at medical centers in the area.
The SANA news agency quoted a military source as saying that the Israeli fighter jets "carried out air strikes today around 3:21 a.m., firing missiles, from the depths of the Mediterranean Sea, west of the city of Latakia, as they attacked a container yard at the commercial port of Latakia."
The source added that "the Israeli aggression led to the ignition of fires at the site and caused a lot of material damage, and the work to extinguish the fires and check the results of the aggression is still ongoing."
