Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s last shah, issued a strong statement following an antisemitic terror attack that took place in Sydney, in which Jews attending a Hanukkah event were murdered solely because of their Jewish identity and faith.
In his statement, Pahlavi said that the attack claimed additional innocent lives and stressed that the victims were targeted only for being Jewish. He warned that this was not the first such incident and would not be the last as long as radical Islamist forces continue to operate unchecked.
Drawing on Iran’s own experience, he noted that for 46 years the Iranian people have been intimately familiar with the kind of hatred and violence displayed in such attacks and therefore stand in solidarity with its victims.
Pahlavi extended his sincere condolences to the families of those murdered and to the people of Australia.
