A UAE-based academic has called on US President Donald Trump to take decisive military action against Iran, suggesting that a global coalition should seize control of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
He argued that such a move could rapidly end the ongoing conflict if Iran agrees to abandon its nuclear ambitions, missile program, and regional proxies.
In a recent interview, Abdulkhaleq Abdulla, a political science professor in the UAE, stated that the war’s duration depends largely on decisions made by President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He claimed that Iran could bring the conflict to an immediate end by complying with strict conditions, including dismantling its nuclear program and ceasing support for proxy groups.
Abdulla described the Strait of Hormuz as an international waterway that, in his view, Iran has effectively “hijacked.” He argued that this control violates international norms and should be removed through coordinated global action. According to him, the UAE would be willing to join such an alliance, potentially becoming the first country to participate.
