Andrew Gwynne also made anti-Semitic slights and 'jokes' about a constituent being 'mowed down' by a truck. The politician also made offensive remarks about Jewish people.
During a discussion about an upcoming Labour meeting, a group member inquired whether Marshall Rosenberg would be attending. This appeared to reference the late American psychologist known for his conflict resolution techniques, which could have been valuable in heated debates. In response, Mr. Gwynne remarked, "No. He sounds too militaristic and too Jewish. Is he in Mossad?"
In 2018, Mr. Gwynne faced scrutiny when it was revealed that he had been a member of a Facebook group called Labour Supporters, where anti-Semitic messages were shared. At the time, he distanced himself from the group, stating: "I was added to this Facebook group without my knowledge or permission. I DO NOT support the posts and I ABHOR anti-Semitism. It has absolutely NO place in the Labour Party or in society. End of."
However, months later, he participated in anti-Semitic exchanges within a WhatsApp group, even appearing to mock those who condemned such rhetoric. In one instance, he posted: "Geoffrey the Giraffe says don’t be nasty to the Jews." It remains unclear whom he was referring to, though Geoffrey was the well-known mascot of Toys R Us.
