In a report pubish now by journlaist Danny Zaken in Yisrael Hayom, Israel and the US are reportedly helping protect Lebanese leaders who support the agreement with Israel and oppose Hezbollah’s control.
According to diplomatic sources, the United States, with indirect assistance from Israeli intelligence and other regional and Western bodies, is helping provide a security umbrella for Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and senior members of his government who support the new framework agreement with Israel.
The report says the protection effort also includes Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Foreign Minister Youssef Raji, amid concerns that Hezbollah and its allies could try to intimidate or target Lebanese officials backing the deal.
Aoun has also reportedly received political backing from Gulf leaders, including Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed, who gave their blessing for the move toward an agreement with Israel. Qatar was reportedly not part of those consultations.
