A Lebanese religious figure in São Paulo urges Muslims worldwide to unite in confrontation, invoking militant imagery during a Quds Day sermon.
Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, representing the Lebanese Dar Al-Fatwa in Brazil and Latin America, delivered a sermon in São Paulo marking International Jerusalem Day in which he called for Islamic unity against a shared enemy.
Speaking at a mosque in the city, Al-Khatib declared that Muslims must act “as one hand wielding one sword,” rather than remain divided.
He argued that internal divisions within the Islamic world have weakened the broader cause of Jerusalem and Palestine, suggesting that if unity had been prioritized, the current situation could have been different. During the sermon, a banner featuring former Iranian leader Ruhollah Khomeini was displayed behind him, reinforcing the ideological tone of the message.
