FM Sa'ar to UK: Hamas uses aid to fund itself

Jerusalem, 5 March, 2025 (TPS-IL) -- Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar spoke with his British counterpart UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

he told him that Israel accepted US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff’s proposal to extend the temporary ceasefire through the Muslim holy month of Ramadan (which lasts until the end of March) and Passover, which goes from April 12 – 19 this year, provided that Hamas release the remaining hostages held in Gaza through that period of time.

Hamas rejected the offer, Sa’ar noted.

Sa’ar pointed out that, during the 42-day phase one of the current ceasefire agreement, 25,000 aid trucks entered Gaza and charged that “half of Hamas’ budget in Gaza comes from these trucks! Hamas is restoring its military capabilities and recruiting new, young terrorists. This cannot continue!”
