One person was killed and another seriously wounded in a suspected terrorist attack near Yokneam in Israel’s Lower Galilee on Monday.
The Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah emergency medical services initially reported that a man in his 70s had been critically injured and a man around 20 years old moderately wounded. However, later updates indicated that the older victim had died of his wounds, while the younger victim’s condition had deteriorated to serious.
The attacker reportedly ran over civilians at a bus stop near Yokneam before opening fire at HaTishbi Junction. Security forces at the scene responded swiftly, neutralizing the terrorist.
Earlier this month, one person was killed and four others wounded, three seriously, in a terror stabbing in the Haifa area in northern Israel. The slain victim was identified as Hassan Karim Dahamsheh, a 70-year-old resident of the Arab village of Kafr Kanna in the Lower Galilee. The terrorist was identified as an Israeli Druze named Yitro Shaheen, 20, a resident of Shfaram, an Arab city in the Northern District of Israel.
Last month, a man in his 60s was attacked with an ax in his yard in the Gan Ner community in northern Israel’s Gilboa region. The victim, who sustained light wounds, was taken to Emek Medical Center in Afula, while the attacker fled the scene.
