Several victims of the Rotherham grooming gang scandal have come forward with explosive claims that they were also raped and sexually blackmailed by police officers from the South Yorkshire Police force—raising serious questions about the integrity of ongoing investigations.
Five women have alleged that during the 1990s and early 2000s, while they were being systematically abused by predominantly Pakistani-Muslim grooming gangs, they were also assaulted by police officers who were meant to protect them.
One victim said she was raped in the back of a police car by PC Hassan Ali, who allegedly threatened her using grooming gang members. “I would rather be raped once… than taken somewhere where I know it’d be 15… 20 guys one after another,” she said.
Ali died in a car crash in 2015 on the day he was placed under investigation.
