A HIMARS strike hit a temporary Russian command post near Kherson during a meeting of Russian officers, Ukrainian media reported.
A Ukrainian official told the Spanish newspaper ABC that the ATACMS missiles if provided by the US, will not be used on targets inside Russia.
Meanwhile, the commander of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet apparently attended a video conference with Defence Minister Shoigu amid reports of his death.
Earlier, Ukraine’s military had claimed that they killed Sokolov along with 33 other officers in a missile attack on the Black Sea Fleet HQ in Sevastopol last week.
The Kremlin said the US Abrams tanks that arrived in Ukraine are “serious weapons” but will make little difference on the battlefield.
