The trials of Venezuela’s ruling elite move closer — security forces chief now top target
Diosdado Cabello, Minister of the Interior, the man who effectively controls Venezuela’s security forces is now at the top of the target list as legal and political pressure on the regime intensifies.
According to reports, the administration of Donald Trump has delivered a clear and direct warning to Cabello the senior security official who holds real power over the country’s armed and internal security apparatus. The message: if he does not cooperate with President Delcy Rodríguez and assist in maintaining control over the state, he himself will become the next target.
This warning reflects a strategic shift. Washington is no longer focusing only on symbolic condemnations of the Venezuelan regime, but is now applying pressure directly on those who command force on the ground — the generals, intelligence chiefs, and internal security bosses who determine whether the regime survives or collapses.
