Behind-the-scenes talks between the United States, Israel, and Russia, conducted discreetly against the backdrop of the escalating crisis with Iran, have resulted in a shared strategic understanding regarding Tehran.
As part of the understandings, Russia — which in the past voiced strong opposition to Iran’s ambitions to acquire nuclear weapons — has committed to restating this position publicly and in international forums.
The goal is to apply coordinated pressure on Tehran while keeping diplomatic channels open in order to prevent uncontrolled escalation. Despite Moscow’s close ties with Tehran, Russia views a nuclear-armed Iran as a direct threat to regional stability and to its own strategic interests.
The understanding reflects a trilateral diplomatic effort aimed at pushing Iran back toward the negotiating table, underscoring that nuclear weapons in the hands of the Iranian regime are unacceptable to the international community.
