India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar defended India's position on Russian oil purchases and Ukraine war in Washington, DC on April 12. Slamming western hypocrisy, Jaishankar said India's total purchase for the month would be less than what Europe buys in an afternoon.
Jaishankar also said that India has urged both Ukraine and Russia for urgent cessation of violence. He also said that India is prepared to contribute in whatever way it can.
The crucial 2+2 dialogue comes as Europe sees one of the worst wars in decades. At the 2+2 dialogue, Blinken also acknowledged India’s help to Ukraine amid the conflict.
While India has abstained from voting at the United Nations against Russia, it has repeatedly called for an end to the violence.
