The camp surrounding President Erdogan is fueling this sense of fear. Devlet Bahçeli, head of the Nationalist Party, warned on Tuesday that the attack on Iran is part of an Israeli plan to encircle Turkey.
"Israel's political and strategic goal is clear," he said. "To encircle Anatolia and sabotage Turkey's path to a future free of terror."
Officials in Ankara told the website that Turkey "needs to study this attack in depth and take relevant steps to prepare itself for any possible risks and options in the future."
At the same time, newspapers in Turkey began sending "reassuring messages" to the public, emphasizing that Turkey has multi-layered air defense systems. It was also emphasized that Turkey is set to increase its defense budgets in the coming years.
