The terrorist drove from the Tapuah Junction to the Gitti Avissar Junction, a route that is open to Palestinians without inspection and was open to traffic. 

He stopped his vehicle about 150 meters from the intersection, got out of the vehicle while armed with an M-16 long rifle, and while walking to the intersection - opened fire on the bus. IDF fighters who were guarding the intersection opened fire and killed him. The incident ended in less than 5 minutes.

The IDF estimates that the terrorist did not act alone, but was part of a squad, and is now working to reach the people who helped him - provided him with the weapon and the vehicle.
