After more than two years of fighting against the "Rapid Support" coup organization, the Sudanese army announced yesterday that it had succeeded in retaking control of the presidential palace in the capital, Khartoum.
As a reminder (I've posted on the channel several times already), the Sudanese army was depleted and had a significant shortage of weapons, and only thanks to Iranian and Russian support was it able to recover and return to effective fighting.
The outcome is already known: bases controlled by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards were established in Sudan under the guise of training bases for the state army.
NEWSRAEL - WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? Sudan is not only one of the largest Arab countries, but a very strategic situated on (SEE MAP). Just before this "civil war" broke out in 2023, the Sudanese government had officially said that it was to join the Abraham Accords and sign a peace treaty with Israel.
AN INTERESTING FACT: The UAE, which we all know has strong ties with Israel, is actually a supporter of the rebels fighting the Sudan government, while Iran is supporting the government.
