Israeli security groups have been meeting with the Netanyahu government in the last month on a regular basis. One aspect has been to decide which targets to attack, but more important - what will be the response to the assassinations, and how will the IDF respond to those.
So - How will the "joint operations room" of the Shiite axis now react to the elimination of PIJ senior officials?
Here are the most likely options:
1) The PIJ will shoot rockets into Israel, doing what they can to reach farther into central Israel
2) The PIJ will initiate harsh terror attacks in Judea and Samaria and/or inside Israel
3) PIJ elements in Lebanon will attack from inside Lebanon
4) Hamas will join PIJ in the response, which means that the response will most likely come from inside Judea and Samaria
5) Hamas will be happy to allow the PIJ attack alone and get smashed by the IDF response. Hamas is secretly happy that PIJ gets knocked down a peg.
6) There will be a joint attack from different regions. Iran may want this so that it can show off its new strategy of bringing together an axis of "resistance" to Israel
As to the question: How will the IDF respond after an attack? No one knows, but one thing CAN be sure - the response is planned and will NOT be "just another attack" on targets that have been evacuated.
