This is the first visit of an Israeli transport minister ever to Morocco. She is scheduled to meet on Monday with the Minister of Transport of Morocco, Mohamed Abdeljalil, and sign with him a series of agreements between the two countries.

Among other things, the visit is about reciprocal recognition of driver’s licenses between the two countries, strengthening and adding to bilateral agreements on shipping issues and direct connections between the ports in the two countries, as well as summaries of joint studies on these issues.

During the meeting, the ministers will also discuss issues of innovative technologies in transportation, including autonomous transportation, smart transportation, and the promotion of research and innovation in the field of road safety. Special emphasis in the meeting will be placed on the issue of high-speed trains, where later the minister will also travel on the high-speed train between Rabat and Tangier and learn from the experience of the minister and his office staff in the planned construction of the high-speed train planned to connect Casablanca to Agadir, as part of plans for such a train in Israel to connect Eilat with Kiryat Shmoneh.

The Minister will lay wreaths on the tombs of Kings Mohammed V and Hassan II in the mausoleum in the capital city of Rabat. She is also scheduled to visit the port of Tangier, meet with mayors, senior government officials and, of course, with members of the Jewish community.

Regev will also visit the city where her father was born and raised, and where she will also visit the Jewish cemetery, where her grandfather is buried.
