The US and its allies have imposed several sanctions on Russia amid its invasion of Ukraine in February. Sanctions have been imposed on biggest companies and its business and political leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin. 

However, reports say the US deliberately avoided sanctioning Putin's alleged mistress and the mother of his three children. Reports say that US believes sanctions on Alina Kabaeva could infuriate Putin and inflame tensions with Russia further.
