Permitted for publication: IDF forces thwarted attempt to smuggle weapons and ammunition in the Dead Sea area *
On the night of May 22, 2022, IDF observations identified two suspects approaching Israeli territory in the Dead Sea area, in the Yoav Territorial Brigade area.
After scanning the area, two suspects were apprehended by security forces in possession of a bag containing four pistols, three M-16 weapons and ammunition.
The two suspects, AA Rahman Abu Sabiyah and Majed Kashkar, Israeli citizens living in the Bedouin diaspora near Dimona, were arrested for GSS interrogation in cooperation with the Israel Police on suspicion that it was a smuggling target for a terrorist factor.
Following the investigation of the two in the GSS, the persons who led the smuggling activity, Muhammad Kashkar and Salman Aloug, who are known to be operating on the Jordanian border to smuggle weapons, were also arrested for questioning.
