The son of the CIA’s Deputy Director, Julianne Galina Glos—appointed to the position in February 2024—was killed in battle while fighting in the Russian army during the war in Ukraine. The 21-year-old, Michael Glos, died in combat in Donetsk on April 4, 2024.
According to a report by istories, in 2023 Michael dropped out of college—where he was known as a climate activist and advocate for women's rights—and began traveling the world.
Along the way, he became drawn to conspiracy theories, developed hatred for the U.S., and a deep aversion to the capitalist West.
In August 2023, he shocked his surroundings by announcing he had moved to Russia. A month later, as his Russian visa neared expiration, he secretly volunteered for the Russian army and signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense, hoping to gain Russian citizenship and save up money to travel to Africa.
