In a January 16, 2026 Friday sermon at the MAS Youth Center in Brooklyn, Imam Mohammad Badawy, director of the Muslim American Society youth center, stated that “as a Muslim,” his reason for existence is to fight the United States Government, the United States Army, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, along with “whatever they control,” until his last breath.
Addressing congregants, Badawy declared “Do your worst,” asserting that even if his body were broken, his spirit could not be reached. He said he must oppose these entities with “every single iota of strength, wealth, and spirit” he possesses, continuing the struggle until he dies or until, in his words, they cease oppression and injustice. He concluded by describing this fight as his “reason for existence.”
