Minneapolis is home to a significant Somali immigrant population, with Somali Americans being the second-largest immigrant group in Minnesota. Concerns have been raised about the integration of Somali immigrants into Western societies.
Reports indicate that an alarming number of Somali Americans from Minneapolis have joined Islamist terrorist groups, such as ISIS and al-Shabaab.
Several years ago, filmmaker Ami Horowitz conducted interviews in the city, revealing the views of some community members. According to Horowitz, many expressed support for Sharia law, condoned violence against those who insulted the Prophet Muhammad, and preferred living in an Islamic country rather than America.
