Egypt will not like this agreement ...

Among the agreements signed yesterday between the Emirates and Turkey there is one agreement with commercial, economic but also regional regional implications. It is an agreement for connection between the Emirates and Turkey, through Iranian territory. If this agreement is implemented, it will be a significant blow for Egypt, since this axis is considered a "bypass of the Suez Canal."

According to the agreement, goods from the Emirates will leave by the short sea route to the Iranian port of Bender Abbas and from there will be transported by land to the Turkish border crossing and from there to the Turkish Iskendron region to the shores of the Mediterranean. According to studies done transporting goods in this way takes about eight days compared to about 20 days through the Suez Canal.

As if a coincidence, the Egyptian authorities announced today that the works to widen the canal to two-way traffic in a section of another 10 km (a total of 82 km) are currently underway. However, the possibility of two-way traffic along the entire length of the canal (about 190 km) is not possible in terms of costs.
