Over 1,000 soldiers and commanders, active duty and reserve took part in special events in honor of their Brothers in Arms that fell in battle.
The IDF's "Running in Memory" race was held in several IDF units ahead of Memorial Day. The run is a unique tradition to commemorate the fallen who fell in the line of duty over the years.
Over 800 soldiers, staff soldiers and reserve soldiers participated in the 'Yahlom' unit's run, and took part in sections of various lengths. This is the first time the unit has held the race as the start of a tradition in memory of the fallen.
In the run in memory of the fallen of the 'Egoz' unit, over 250 soldiers and unit staff members participated, starting the running course at the unit's base and running along a course of approximately 9 km, as the unit's number 6-2-1 at an increasing pace according to the division.
The 'Duvdevan' unit held a "Navigations in Memory" event for the fallen of the unit, in which all of its service members took part. The navigations took place in several different sections, during which each unit commemorated a number of fallen soldiers, created value-based discussion circles around them and told their stories.
In the run of the 'Meitar' unit, over 100 soldiers and combat supporters participated, starting the running course at the Ramat Gan Stadium along a 5 km course. Each soldier who ran in the race chose a space to run to commemorate. In addition, at the end of the run, discussion circles were held to commemorate the fallen.
