A frightening confrontation unfolded Friday in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough, as Shabbat approached, when a man dressed in a long white robe and keffiyeh-style headscarf threatened Orthodox Jews on a residential street.

In the video, the man is seen yelling at an identifiably Jewish passerby: “We will kill you all.” In another recording, he shouts, “We will f—ing kill you, OK, you f—ing pig.” A separate video shows him pointing skyward and declaring: “I’m just waiting for the order of the king … There is one king — Allah.”

Residents, visibly shaken, did not respond to the threats but called police instead. At first, police hesitated to make an arrest, but after a wave of angry calls to politicians and police officials, officers tracked down a 28-year-old suspect and took him into custody. He remains jailed awaiting a court appearance, with the case now in the hands of Montreal’s hate crimes unit. Charges are expected based on the video evidence.
