After years that Saudi Arabia and the Arab world have shunned the Syrian regime of Assad, the Saudis has decided publicly to agree to allow the return of Assad to the Arab League under the condition that it reject the Iranian Ayatollah stranglehold on the country.
The Saudi move, if it could succeed, would not only be a huge blow to Iran and its Rottweiler, the Hezbollah, but would also be a great relief for Israel.
It should also be noted that the Saudis have been trying the same tactic with Iraq. If they can pull this off with Syria, it may well help them to succeed with Iraq.
One need not be an expert to see that PM Israel Netanyahu has his hands in this after the news circulating around secrets talks between Israel and the Saudis.
While Saudi Arabia say, for now, it is not willing to "normalize" relations with Israel, it seems as though they are willing to strengthen unspoken ties in not only security issues, but economic ones also.
For anyone who has followed Netanyahu throughout his long political career, this seems to be right out of his text book to use pragmatism in politics.
It should be quite obvious that while both Iraq and Syria depend on funds from Iran, those funds are getting smaller and smaller as the Iranian economy is crashing, and that the funds of Saudi Arabia are literally boundless.
