A Lebanese military expert says Hezbollah is in serious trouble after largely halting its attacks against Israel and reducing its military activity in southern Lebanon.
Retired Lebanese Brig. Gen. Hisham Jaber told the Step News Agency that Hezbollah has not fired a missile or even a bullet at Israel for more than a month. He said the terrorist organization’s activity south of the Litani River is now negligible, while military movements north of the river are seen only occasionally.
According to the report, Hezbollah’s silence reflects the heavy military losses, political pressure and growing internal Lebanese opposition it now faces. Israeli strikes have damaged its command structure and military infrastructure, while Lebanon’s government is seeking to strengthen state control and advance Hezbollah’s disarmament.
The report says Hezbollah has shifted from offensive operations to survival mode. Rather than launching a continuing war of attrition, it is reportedly moving terrorists and weapons in a dispersed manner and attempting to reorganize its defenses farther north.
