IDF forces from the Samson Battalion of the Kfir Brigade, operating under Northern Brigade command, have been conducting intensive activity in the Beit Hanoun area of Gaza in recent weeks.
They have been targeting the remaining terror and underground infrastructure east of the yellow line, in accordance with the security agreements. Overnight, in cooperation with Yahalom combat engineers, the forces demolished the tunnel where three of their comrades—Capt. Elai Gabriel Atadgi, Reserve Master Sgt. Hillel Diner, and Staff Sgt. Nathaniel Pesach—were killed exactly 11 months ago during an encounter with terrorists.
The tunnel stretched roughly one kilometer in length and reached depths of dozens of meters. Southern Command continues wide-ranging operations in the area to neutralize immediate threats to the forces and to protect the civilians of Israel’s western Negev, ensuring the security of the country against remaining terrorist infrastructure.
