Report: Elon Musk to visit Israel next week

Channel 12 News reports that owner of X and Starlink will meet Herzog and Netanyahu and will visit the area near the Gaza border.

Elon Musk, owner of social media site X (formerly Twitter), is set to visit Israel next week, Channel 12 News reported on Thursday.

According to the report Musk, the richest man in the world, is expected to visit the area near the border with the Gaza Strip and see the destruction in the towns and kibbutzim after the surprise attack by Hamas on October 7.

According to the plan, Musk is scheduled to meet with President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Musk and Netanyahu met two weeks before the start of the war.

The visit would take place days after Musk was criticized for alleged antisemitism, after he appeared to endorse an antisemitic conspiracy theory about Jewish people, resulting in multiple industry giants announcing that they will no longer be advertising on X.

Responding to the fury on Sunday, Musk wrote, “This past week, there were hundreds of bogus media stories claiming that I am antisemitic. Nothing could be further from the truth. I wish only the best for humanity and a prosperous and exciting future for all.”

Musk previously had a tense relationship with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which culminated in Musk threatening a defamation lawsuit against the organization.

The ADL ultimately ended its feud with Musk, announcing it will resume advertising on X.

Near the start of the war in Gaza,Musk promised to connect international humanitarian organizations operating in Gaza to his company Starlink's satellite internet, following the collapse of all ISPs in Gaza due to Israeli attacks on Hamas infrastructure.

The announcement surprised Israeli officials, who warned that such a move would benefit Hamas terrorists. Musk then made clear that that he would “take extraordinary measures to confirm that it is used only for purely humanitarian reasons” and would do a security check with both the US and Israeli governments.

Later,Musk spoke to Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) chief Ronen Bar and made clear that he supports Israel and claimed that the connection would be "only for humanitarian purposes".
