Turkish security officials: There is an intention to place anti-aircraft batteries, including the S-400 battery, at Syrian airports to deter Israel
According to reports from sources that cannot be verified, Turkish armed forces officials today arrived at the T-4 air base in the Syrian desert and the Palmyra (Palm) military airport in the Homs governorate in central Syria, both of which were recently targeted by Israeli air force attacks.
According to the same sources, citing senior Turkish military officials, S-400 and Hisar-O+ surface-to-air missile batteries will be deployed to these bases alongside long-range drones, as Turkey plans to increase attacks against ISIS and deter further attacks on Syria by Israel.
If Turkey indeed places the S-400 battery as one of the 2 military airfields mentioned above, then Turkey has crossed bright red lines of Israeli defense policy, since the range of these missiles covers a significant part of Israeli territory and constitutes a threat to freedom of flight in Israeli skies, something that Israel cannot agree to and it will have to find a solution to this, either military or diplomatic.
But one thing is clear, Israel will not shy away from confronting Turkey as long as it concerns the security of the country and Turkey must understand that the destruction of the threatening batteries is also part of Israel's action to remove threats from it.
Israel also sees the new Syrian government as responsible for the emergence of new threats to Israel's freedom of flight and any response it makes to this threat will also include them.
Israel is closely monitoring all A threat that is building up against it and is building a course of action to remove it.
It is not in the interest of any enemy to challenge Israel. It “does not see eye to eye” when its security is threatened.”
A note in the background of the news: Removing the S-400 battery from Turkish soil is an ultimate American demand, if it wants to return to and integrate into the H-35 project from which it was expelled after purchasing the anti-aircraft batteries from Russia. Erdogan sees placing the battery he bought, which has not even yet been operationally integrated into the Turkish air defense system, even though it has been with them for many years, on Syrian soil as a “magic” solution to the American problem.
